This guy is probably the biggest name to ever achieve fame through graffiti. He really blew up after he snuck his own piece of art into the Natural History Museum and put in on display without permission. What was it? A dead rat sporting a miniature spray can, encased in a glass fronted box. He favors stencils for his graffiti pieces, which are usually well designed and realistic characters doing or saying things that make you glad you looked twice. Some of them are powerful political messages, some of them are just unique and awesome displays of rampant vandalism. Banksy likes to go big with his work and push the "limits" of the style so many of us enjoy. His style, to me, looks hardcore in its casualness, a perfect mix of detail where it matters while maintaining an effortless style. You can tell he enjoys fucking up other people's walls. These days, if he blessed your wall with a piece, he'd be doing you a favor. His artwork sells for serious bank. See?
It has been a few years since this article saw publication, but it's a classic piece of historical nostalgia. If you like art and better yet, graffiti, you should get a kick out of this. This man is a rampant hooligan, a hero to us all and one of my favorite artists of all time. He tagged the world big enough for EVERYBODY to know his name!
